Interesting stories do not only come from us the GMU team on ground. Sometimes, we do get to pick inspiring tales from our partners. Like this one we heard from DSWD folks:
Mana Reymunda is a Brgy. Sub-Project Management Committee (BSPMC) Chairperson. We at GMU do know her as the notebook-toting woman who busily goes around the cluster of Sub-component A.1 projects (classrooms in 4 schools all over Balangiga, Eastern Samar). And she's ever ready to tell us about progress, costs, issues and many such things, everytime we are around the sites.
I'd like to re-quote here what she said quoted by our DSWD PM in their FB post:
"Bata pa lang ako pangarap ko na ang makapagturo sa mga bata pero hindi kaya ng mga magulang ko ang gastusin, kaya hindi ako nakatapos ng kolehiyo. Hindi man ako nakatulong sa Brgy. San Miguel bilang isang guro, at least bilang Kalahi-CIDSS volunteer, makakatulong akong maipatayo ang mga paaralang ito."
