ADB Country Director Revisits Yolanda Areas

15JUL2015. Richard SM Bolt, the Asian Development Bank's (ADB) Philippines Country Director revisited yesterday and today, several areas in Region VIII's 'Yolanda Corridor'.

Revisiting Leyte and Samar with Ms. Su Chin Teoh - JFPR Grant 9175 Project Officer, Mr. Bolt's mission this time was not only to check on the progress of various recovery interventions funded under its Japan Fund for Poverty Reduction (JFPR), but among many things else, also to witness an 'Infrastructure Pre-implementation Forum' and grace the ground breaking ceremony for a new building to be built inside the Cansumangkay Elementary School in Balangiga, Eastern Samar. This new building will sit beside the just-handed-over building repaired by DSWD Kalahi, also funded by the same grant from ADB's JFPR. (Photo-essay below)

Plan International's Engr. Honesto Torres explains the significance of the 'time capsule' to the school principal Rosalina Duque and pupils as other Plan staff and ADB Country Director Richard Bolt listen.


A school child puts the final document (copy of the building plan) into the time capsule witnessed by Plan Int'l's John Trew, ADB Country Director Richard Bolt and other officers & staff from both Plan Int'l and ADB.
