ESAMELCO Makes A Go!

We're finally off the ground with Sub-component A.3! That would be ESAMELCO (Eastern Samar Electric Cooperative) permanently restoring power to primary health and educational institutions!

Aside from news that bidding for the 3 lots has just concluded, and that procurement has started, with a go signal from the National Electrification Administration (NEA), ESAMELCO recently held their Beneficiary Orientation 15MAY2015 at Rawis in Borongan, Eastern Samar. Invited were heads of beneficiary schools and hospitals.

ESAMELCO GM Atty. Amancio welcomed the attendees with a briefer on ESAMELCO and why this project was granted by NEA with funds from JFPR Gant 9175.

GMU SEERE Dindo Mengote familiarized the audience with the totality of JFPR Grant 9175 interventions and other ADB-funded projects in response to typhoon Yolanda's aftermath.

Engr. Nestor Promeda, ESAMELCO's Operations Head then discussed the details of the project such as 'the various interventions per beneficiary school or hospital; things needed to have these in place; when will the installations start; and other related matters.

At the end of the technical presentation, an actively participated open-forum ensued where Engr. Promeda and GMU Project Coordinator Jocelyn Saw took turns at clarifying matters or giving the beneficiary representatives advise on how things shall be approached or handled.

As the Dr. Olivo Mejica, Chief of Arteche District Hospital puts it "we are very thankful you thought of this project as this will make us serve the people better".
